Here are some great questions to take to your Parent-Teacher Conference:

1. What subjects and skills will my child be expected to master this year?
2. Is my child working to the best of his or her ability? How is progress measured?
3. How much time do you expect students to spend on homework assignments each night? Are they graded for completion or for accuracy?
4. What does my student need to work on and how can I help? Get specific feedback.
5. How do you evaluate students? How do tests, homework, class participation figure in the grades?

Take these questions and any others you may wish to ask with you to the conference in note form or on your cell.  Having them in front of you will ensure you don't forget to ask them.  Smile and be friendly as you ask them.  Remember, the teacher is your teammate, not your rival, in educating your child.
